Near East College 8th-year student swimmer Akman Tüzünkan became third and broke 3 TRNC records in Denizli, Turkey!


Near East College 8th-year student Akman Tüzünkan came third in Turkey in the “50 meters backstroke” category at the “Turkish Swimming Federation 12-Year-Old National Development League Turkey Final” held in Denizli between 1-3 December. Tüzünkan also broke the TRNC records in the “50 meters backstroke”, “100 meters backstroke” and “200 meters backstroke” categories.

Near East College 8th-year student Akman Tüzünkan successfully represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the “12-Year-Old National Development League Turkey Final” organized by the Turkish Swimming Federation in Denizli between 1-3 December. Racing in four categories, Akman Tüzünkan broke the TRNC record in three of these categories and succeeded in coming third in Turkey in the “50 meters backstroke” category.

Akman Tüzünkan, who came third in Turkey with a time of 00:32.53 in the “50 meters backstroke” category, which was the first race held in the Turkish Swimming Federation 12-Year-Old National Development League Turkey Final, also passed the A4 threshold and won his own “TRNC Long Course 12-Year-Old” race and also improved his own record. Akman Tüzünkan, who completed the 100-meter backstroke category with a time of 01:12.09, also improved his own 12-year-old long course record in this category. While Tüzünkan passed the A3 threshold with a time of 00:29.65 in the “50 meters freestyle” category, he also broke the A1 threshold and the “12 Years Old Long Course Age Record” with a time of 02:44.51 in the “200 meters backstroke” category. Thus, this record, which was broken by Erol Şevket in 2013, was improved by 4 seconds by Near East College 8th-year student Akman Tüzünkan.

Akman Tüzünkan, who trained for the competitions by Avni Cankurt, one of the trainers of the Near East University Olympic Swimming Pool, made his family, Near East College and country feel great pride with the records he made.
