The students of the Near East College Geography Club and the Thought Club, in cooperation with the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, carried out an environmental cleaning in Nicosia Art Park by setting an example to raise awareness in the environment.

According to the information given by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Directorate, the club students, who expressed their goal of loving nature and explaining the environmental consciousness to the people around them and ensuring that everyone is sensitive to the environment, also gave the message that healthy individuals can only be raised through a healthy environment.

Başak Özaltınok, one of the teachers of the Near East College Geography Club, said that one of the key indicators of civilizations was cleanliness and emphasized that this sensitivity should be at the highest level in order to be a clean society and to have a clean environment. Özaltınok stated that they want to raise social awareness about this issue as the Near East College and added that there is an insensitivity towards the environment today and that environmental cleanliness has not been carried out sufficiently; thus, nature is being destroyed and the only way to prevent this is to be sensitive to the environment and to gain environmental consciousness.
