
Near East College student and national athlete Nehir Deniz will represent Turkey on the world stage at the “Victor International Challenge 2025.”
Near East College student and Turkish National Badminton Team athlete Nehir Deniz will compete in the “Victor International Challenge 2025,” one of the world’s most important tournaments. Competing for the Turkish National Badminton Team at the championship, which kicks off in Istanbul on October 8, 2025, Nehir Deniz will share the court with some of the world’s best athletes, including Olympic athletes.
The championship, which is included in the official calendar of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Europe and organized by the Turkish Badminton Federation, is among the world’s highest-scoring and most prestigious badminton tournaments. Despite her young age, Nehir Deniz, who has garnered attention with her national and international achievements, is eagerly awaited to perform at this important championship in Istanbul.
From the Near East to the National Team!
Nehir Deniz, who has been studying at Near East College since the age of three, has crowned her academic achievements with top honors in her class and has also attracted attention with her championships on both her school and club teams. Deniz, who played a key role in the Near East University Club Team’s championships over the last decade, also consistently plays for the Turkey’s National Badminton Team. Having played over 25 matches for the Turkish National Teams under 15, 17, and 19, Nehir Deniz has quickly shined with her disciplined training and domestic success.
This year, Nehir Deniz transferred to Samsun Academy Sports Club and is competing in the Turkey Badminton League. In 2022, she won both the girls’ doubles and mixed doubles titles at the International Under-15 Tournament in Bulgaria and reached the quarterfinals of the Under-17 International Tournament in Istanbul in 2024. In the same year, Nehir Deniz won first place in the Women’s Doubles category at the inaugural Air Badminton Championships held in Antalya, Turkey. She also won the Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles categories at the international tournament held in Liege, Belgium, in June 2025. The successful young athlete continued to make a name for herself by placing 7th with the Turkish National Team at the inaugural Air Badminton Senior European Championships held in Azerbaijan in September 2025.
