On the occasion of the 1 December World AIDS Day, year 12 GCE students were briefed in a conference addressed by Infectious Diseases Microbiology Expert Dr Selin Bardak from Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital’s Basic Health units.

Dr Bardak reminded the students about the need to show maximum amount of care and attention in order to protect themselves against such diseases, apart from shedding light on statistical information about the HIV cases in the TRNC, Turkey and the world in general. She provided visual presentations in support of the information she gave.

The conference focused on the point that “anyone can be an HIV carrier” and that “HIV carriers should not be isolated by the community”. During the conference, Dr Bardak answered many questions asked by the participating students.
