The “Arts Society”, which has been set up by the NEC Arts Department organized its first event, visiting the Lefke area. All students of the Arts Department were involved in the visit, accompanied by their teachers Burcu Özberkman, Çağıl Ener, Düriye Uluca, Özle Tamtunalı, Diler Ertuğ, İsmail Paşa and Selçuk Yörükoğulları.
During the visit, Arts students examined the processes of occurrence of debris and buildup of alluvia around the Lefke River area. They also observed erosional patterns. Then the students visited the Lefke-Gemikonağı Pond for further examination and observation.
Agricultural Engineer Aktürk Pilancı briefed the students, underlining the significance of the country’s scarce water resources and the irrigation capacity of the Lefke Pond.
