Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was commemorated on Monday 10th November on the 76th anniversary of his death. Two separate ceremonies were held in the NEC middle school and the GCE buildings.

The ceremonies began by observing a minute’s silence at 9.05 -the hour the Turkish leader died 76 years ago. Then groups of students from each class laid flowers at the Atatürk busts. History teachers Bahar Özada from the middle school and Ayten Saydam from the GCE building delivered speeches to underline the significance of the day.
In both ceremonies, students read Atatürk poems and choirs sang national songs.
Activities of commemoration are to continue throughout the week.
