In a ceremony held on Tuesday 13 January, NEC students and teachers commemorated Turkish Cypriot people’s two deceased leaders, Rauf Denktaş and Dr Fazıl Küçük.

The ceremony began with a minute’s silence and the singing of the national anthem. Following that, Headmaster Işılay Arkan delivered an introductory speech concerning both leaders, while history teacher Mete Özsezer spoke about the significance of the great achievements of both leaders in the service of the TC community.
During the ceremony, students read some of the poems and sayings of Rauf Denktaş. The winning students of the NEC school competition read their compositions about Dr Fazıl Küçük, ending the ceremony held in the auditorium.
