Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı Bugay gave a seminar on Positive School Climate to teachers of the Near East College.

The seminar, held by the Near East College Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit, aims to save the teacher from uniformity, to help the teacher to change and develop, to be motivated by raising awareness, to save from burnout in the system and to contribute to the development work more efficiently as part of a team within the school.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı Bugay Sökmez in her speech emphasized that schools, like individuals, have a personality, so that no school is the same as the other, and that the schools differ widely in terms of student and teacher behavior, parental participation, social and cultural values, moral characteristics and interpersonal skills, and the cumulative effect of all these factors form the school climate.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sökmez asserting that school climate has an important role in the formation of healthy learning environments or the occurrence of serious learning obstacles, said "In the end, the positive school climate is a prerequisite for achieving the desired level of academic achievement. Therefore, it should be taken into consideration that each school should be diagnosed according to its personality and implementation of school programs for climate improvement should be taken into consideration.
