This year, The Near East College Social responsibility club added a new trip to their yearly schedule and visited the Greenwise Environmental recycling plant in Alaykoy, Lefkosa. The trip aimed to enhance recycling amongst the students. The students were given a lot of information and found answers to their many questions on the topic.

According to the teachers working on the club, an increase in population brings about an increase in environmental pollution. Products which do not disintegrate over time and are not recycled, cause damage to the environment and natural resources. Although recycling is not widely heard of around the island, an alternative method for reducing the amount of rubbish produced has yet to be established.

The students have decided to organise a project during the academic year as they are now more aware of what can be done to solve the problems caused by rubbish and how recycling is done.
