The Near East College, known to be the TRNC's first private school has started the 2016-2017 new academic year. Year 6's started school on 19 September 2016 while the other classes started on 20 September 2016.

The Near East College is proud to be starting its 24 th academic year. After a minute silence and the national anthem, the school's headmaster Isilay Arkan made an opening speech. In his speech he stated that the school's dynamic and experienced teachers aim to give the students the best education possible in an active teaching environment, creating a generation who will for fill the country's needs in the future. He then emphasised that the Near East College offers everything necessary for a good education. He added that this could be seen in last year's external examination results, sports successes and cultural activities. He ended his speech by thanking all the parents for choosing The Near East College.

As the bell rang, the students' happiness and excitement could be seen on their faces.
