The Near East College Boys’ Handball Team was welcomed with great enthusiasm upon their return home; defeated the champions of Denizli, Ankara, Karaman and Kayseri and reached the final. Near East College Boys’ Handball Team will compete for the championship in the Turkish Youth Handball Championship Final to be held in Kastamonu between 12-16 February.
Near East College Boys’ Handball Team, which became the champion in the Inter-High School Boys’Handball Competitions and qualified to represent the TRNC in the competitions held in Turkey, finished the series as the leader of its group by making 4 out of 4 in the semi-final competitions held in Karaman. Near East College Boys’ Handball Team, which has made its name among the top 8 teams in Turkey, will represent the TRNC in the Turkish Youth Handball Championship Final to be held in Kastamonu between 12-16 February.
The young champions, who made their families and schools feel great pride, started their semi-final group matches in Karaman, Turkey by defeating Denizli provincial champion Orhan Abalıoğlu High School 33-16. On the second day, the Near East College Boys’ Handball Team defeated METU Ankara, the second Ankara provincial champion, with a score of 27-26, and on the third match, they defeated Karaman provincial champion Karaman High School with a score of 34-11. Near East College Boys’ Handball Team, which won the last match against Kayseri provincial champion Fevziye Memduh High School with a score of 37-18, advanced to the Turkish Youth Handball Championship Finals.
Near East College Boys’ Handball Team, which will continue to push for the championship in the Turkish Youth Handball Championship Finals, will prepare for the championship accompanied by their teachers Mustafa Özpolili and Gültekin Gülman. Near East College Boys’ Handball Team consists of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th year students of Near East College including Halil Gazelci, Sami Karasalih, Demir Çöllo, Mehmet Kurtoğlu, Ahmet Pampuroğluları, Alp Paça, Efe Özaltay, Hasan Bensel, Mustafa Hısım, Batu Adalıer, Arif Savoğlu, Şükrü Sağlamer, Fikri Asal, Kıvanç Buba, Deran Çöllo, Efe Sıddık and Hasan Hidayet.

Near East College Boys’ Handball Team, which represented the TRNC with great success by winning all 4 matches in Karaman within the scope of the semi-final matches taking place between 14-20 January 2024, was welcomed by Near East College Director Ömer Özkan at Ercan Airport on Saturday evening. Addressing his students, whom he welcomed with flowers, Özkan said “I am proud of all of you. I wholeheartedly congratulate our students and teachers who contributed to this great success. I wish our team success in the Turkish Youth Handball Championship Final, which will be held in Kastamonu between 12-16 February.”
