Due to his 79th death anniversary, a commemoration ceremony for Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was held at Near East College. It was pointed out that the ceremony was held at the meeting area of Near East College Building for Year 6s and Year 7s, and GCE Building. As done in previous years, the commemoration ceremony began with sirens rang at 9:05, a minute of silence, followed by the National Anthem. Then, flowers were out by the Atatürk statue.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, speeches on the importance of the day were made; yearning poems and poems indicating respect to Atatürk were read; later to be followed by the marches sang by the school choir. Furthermore, the students read “Atatürk’ün Gençliğe Hitabesi” altogether which excited everyone with pride and joy.
10th November was addressed as a day which provides inspiration to look at the future with optimism…
Near East College students Laren Saylı and Sayra Batkan made speeches regarding the importance of the day, pointing how Atatürk, distinguished leader and statesman, devoted his life for his country, established the Republic of Turkey by overcoming very challenging and difficult circumstances. Underlining Atatürk’s commitment in realizing the process of national strive and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey with a foreseeing vision, they stated that the responsibility of the youth today is to adopt Atatürk’s principles and revolutions in order to be open minded and carry our country further. They emphasized that death anniversary of Atatürk, 10th November, should be addressed as a day which provides inspiration to have an optimistic look at the future.
