Azat Etkü, Hasan Avkat and Mustafa Yorulmaz, who are students of Near East College and athletes of the National Athletic Team of TRNC, have filled us with pride by ranking the first, second and third places in Turkish Athletics Indoor Championship where 1300 athletes competed. Azat Etkü had won gold medal and championship by accomplishing 1.85 meters in the high jump, Hasan Avkat ranked the second place in pole vault, and Mustafa Yorulmaz ranked the third place in long jump.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, during the Turkish Athletics Indoor Championship that held in Istanbul on 23-25 January, 2016, 5 athletes achieved top ranks in different competitive sporting events and brought championship to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Azat Etkü, student at the Near East College and TRNC National Team athlete, won the gold medal and became Turkey's champion by accomplishing 1.85 meter in U 16 high jump. In virtue of this accomplishment, Azat Etkü took place among the athletes that were invited to the Turkish National Team camp.
Turkey's second place winner in pole vault....
Hasan Avkat, the Near East College student and athlete in TRNC National Team, ranked the second place by accomplishing 3 meter-jumping in U 18 pole vault. Hasan Avkat was also among the athletes who were invited to the Turkish National Team camp due to their accomplishments.
Bronze Medal in long-jump……
Mustafa Yorulmaz, another NEC student that takes place in TRNC’s National Team, has ranked the third place by jumping 6.58 m in U 18 long-jump.
They have overcome all challenges...
Other athletes of the National Team, Kubilay Tok and Sude Kadıoğlu achieved success in U 18 Turkish Athletics Indoor Championship. Kublilay Tok ran 60 meters hurdles in 8.55 seconds and ranked the 4th place while Sude Kadıoğlu ranked the 5th place by achieving 11.2 meters in shot put.

Özgür Kıralp and Niyazi Serhaner, athletic coaches of the Near East College, experienced emotional moments while expressing their feelings regarding the issue. They highlighted that they were proud of each athlete individually. In his brief speech, the coach Özgür Kıralp congratulated the athletes who made their school feel the happiness and pride of returning home as the champion of Turkish Athletics Indoor Championship where 1300 athletes competed in different sporting events.
