Near East College Students received Their Certificates Indicating Competency in Foreign Languages with a ceremony



Near East College organized a ceremony and delivered their certificates to the students who had been successful in Key English Test (KET), the Preliminary English Test (PET), Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) and in A1 level of German language examination.

According to the info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Preliminary (PET) and Key (KET) are recognized around the world by thousands of employers, universities and government ministries as proof of ability to use English. The press release also highlights that DELF, Which stands for Diploma in French studies (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française), is the only official certification of French-language abilities for non-native speakers administered by France's Ministry of Education. A1, A2 and B1 levels of German language examinations that held by Goethe Institute correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The press statement also underlines that the certificates awarded by KET, PET Cambridge English, DELF and Goethe Institute are internationally valid and accepted as a qualification all over the world. 15 students who sat for Cambridge English KET and PET held by British Council, 28 students who sat for DELF A1 and A2 Levels, and 11 students who sat for A1 level of German language examination that held by Goethe Institute in its Nicosia center, were entitled to receive a certificate by achieving success in the exams.

The Near East College (NEC) feels the right pride of the notable success achieved by her students. The successful students received their certificates with a ceremony held at NEU Grand Library Hall 2. NEC administrative staff, teaching staff, students and their parents participated in the event. The School Principal Asım İdris delivered a speech touching upon the importance of achieving success in foreign languages held by international prestigious organizations and institutions. The ceremony came to end after delivering the certificates and having a souvenir photograph taken.

Touching upon the importance of having competency in foreign language, the School Principal İdris underlined that Near East College had always been a pioneer in this context and her accomplishments would continue increasingly in the coming years.

“Exams taken in these levels of Preliminary (PET) and Key (KET) are recognized by as proof of ability to use English. These exams constitute the first steps for students to prepare themselves for English proficiency exams such as IGCSE and IELTS, which are taken into consideration by universities when they make admission decisions. This process is important for students in terms of gaining the habit of regular and careful study, getting to know the exam environment, complying with the rules of exams and learning timing” said he.

The School Principal also touched upon the importance of having competency in German language which is implemented as the second foreign language course by Near East College. "Goethe Institute’s German language examinations correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The associated certificates that awarded by Goethe Institute, which have centers in more than 200 countries around the world, are internationally valid and accepted as a qualification all over the world. In all EU and UK universities, Goethe certificates provide the holders with extra credit points and great benefits in the respective fields. The holders of DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) have the same privilege” noted he.

Academic Development of Students will be shared with parents...
The Principal İdris also added that the new system which would empower the parent-teacher-student communication in academic manner would be put into practice in the coming days. “This new system has been designed to increase quality in education and provide the parents with more comprehensive information relevant to their children as well as foster students by keeping parent-teacher-student communication alive. Within the frame of this new system, we will share the student's performance, class ranking and accomplishment with his/her parents after each exam or whenever necessary, we will identify each student's deficiency on the subject and launch extra courses if necessary. The overriding aim is to raise well equipped students capable to address the needs of our era “said he.
