Near East College Students went on a trip to Çanakkale to make observations and feel the spirit of the national struggle in Turkey. The trip was jointly organised for schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by the TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture, and Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Turkish Republic.
The students were taken to the National Struggle Camp in Çanakkale so as to make observations regarding the national struggle to establish the Republic of Turkey by observing the martyr monuments and artefacts. Near East College went there as the 12. Group; with a total of 20 teachers and 150 students.
According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Near East College participated in this organisation of taking secondary schools to Çanakkale with the highest number of teachers and students and were hosted at the Çanakkale Eceabat Konukevi (a guesthouse) for 4 days.

On the second day of the trip, the students were taken to introduction centre of Çanakkale where the students were informed of the incidents which took place there by simulations; exemplifying the difficult circumstances faced then. This has caused the students to once again understand the role Mustafa Kemal Atatürk played in the national struggle and renewed their patriotic feelings.
The students were taken to historical Gelibolu peninsula martyrdom was visited where the 57th Regiment Martyrs are located, the Conkbayır region, Kilitbahir castles, Kanuni tower, Namazgah Bastion, Seyid Coporal and Rumeli Mecidiye Martyrdom, Soğanlıdere, Şahindere Martyrdom, Martyrdom Monument, and Sergeant Yahya Martyrdom.
Minister of National Education Berova also participated in the trip…
On the last day of the trip, Minister of National education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Berova also came to Çanakkale to where the students were camping to thank the officials for hosting the teachers and students for this meaningful trip.

Upon their return, Near East College students expressed their feelings and thoughts regarding the trip and stated that the trip had made a mark on them; providing insights of the national struggle, the efforts of patriots who all done so much to establish the peaceful days of today.
