Teacher Assessment Grade

Dear Parents and Students,

As a consequence of measures taken to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, all May-June 2021 IGCSE, International AS and A-Level examinations have been cancelled by OFQUAL and Pearson Edexcel examination board on the basis that fair alternatives will be provided.

Our suggestions for Year 10,11, 12 GCE classes are summarised below,

  1. The examination board mentioned above will ask our college to submit teacher assessment grades for the We assure students that this process will provide fair examination results to be awarded to our students. Therefore, we recommend our year 10, 11 and 12 students to be assessed by this method. On 25th February 2021, OFQUAL and Pearson Edexcel announced that teacher assessment grades regarding GCSE ,GCE AS and A level examinations will be dependent on a range of evidence including mock exams ,coursework or other work completed as part of the course. Teachers will consider each student’s performance and make an evidence based judgement of the grade each student is performing at. The same procedure is expected to be applied to the International GCSE and GCE AS and A level examinations. Therefore, it is crucial to pay attention during the online lessons and complete the courses. Teacher assessment grades will be awarded in August 2021 as formal grades by the examination boards. If you do not feel your grade reflects your ability, you will be able to appeal and you will also have the opportunity to sit an exam in Autumn 2021.
  2. As an alternative, our students will have the opportunity to withdraw from the May- June 2021 examination series by 11th March 2021. Should you choose this alternative you will not be awarded a teacher assessment
